The Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors (CBOD), Dr. Ofori, has called for a pragmatic approach to Africa’s energy transition, stressing the need to balance sustainability goals with energy access and affordability
Speaking at the 2nd Energy Sustainability Leadership Conference 2025, held under the theme “The Role of Oil and Gas in Just Transition: Balancing Resources and Sustainability,” Dr. Ofori underscored that while the transition to cleaner energy is inevitable, Africa cannot afford to compromise economic stability or energy security.
“Affordability and inclusivity must be central to our transition policies,” he noted, pointing out that oil and gas will continue to play a critical role in supporting growth, revenue, and investment as Ghana and other African economies diversify energy sources.
The conference, organised by Safety Communication Consult in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, brought together policymakers, industry executives, and development partners to explore strategies for achieving a just transition in the energy sector.
