The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) has kicked off its 40th anniversary celebrations with a Presidential Gala Dinner at the Jubilee House, Accra, under the theme “From Resource to Reality: 40 Years of Impact and Innovation.”
The prestigious event brought together dignitaries from across Africa’s energy landscape, including delegates attending the 7th African Petroleum Producers’ Organization (APPO) NOC CEOs Forum and Africa Oil Week (AOW).

The evening was officially launched by Vice President H.E. Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, who commended GNPC’s four-decade journey of advancing Ghana’s petroleum sector. She praised the corporation’s contributions to exploration and production, job creation, and local capacity building since its inception in 1985.

“GNPC has been instrumental in Ghana’s national development story. For 40 years, it has built partnerships, created opportunities, and driven progress in energy and beyond. This milestone is a testament to its resilience and innovation,” the Vice President said.

GNPC’s Chief Executive, Kwame Ntow Amoah, used the occasion to reflect on the corporation’s legacy and its ambitions for the future. He acknowledged the contributions of past and present leadership, staff, and industry partners, and underscored GNPC’s vision of sustainability and innovation in line with the global energy transition.
The Vice President also unveiled GNPC’s 40th anniversary logo, officially opening a year-long calendar of events. Planned activities include high-level industry conferences, stakeholder engagements, community-focused social impact projects, and strategic collaborations aimed at reinforcing GNPC’s leadership in the energy sector.
The launch not only celebrated GNPC’s achievements but also spotlighted its future role as a driver of Ghana’s development and a catalyst for Africa’s energy transition.
