MOSCOW —
Russia and Ghana have discussed prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, including potential projects in the nuclear industry, according to the Russian Ministry of Energy.
Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev held a working meeting with Ghana’s Minister of Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, where the two sides reviewed areas for developing energy cooperation.
The discussions included the possibility of implementing joint initiatives in the nuclear sector. The Ghanaian delegation expressed interest in Russian technologies and equipment, while both sides agreed to prepare the necessary documents to advance bilateral cooperation.
The meeting also focused on preparations for the Third Russia–Africa Summit and the Russia–Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum, scheduled to take place in Moscow on October 28–29, 2026.
The officials highlighted the forum as an opportunity to discuss prospective projects and identify future areas of cooperation between Russia and Ghana.
“Russia is interested in consistently expanding cooperation with African states and implementing joint initiatives,” Tsivilev said, adding that the energy sector remains an important area for cooperation and that efforts should focus on implementing agreements already reached.
The talks form part of broader efforts to strengthen Russia–Africa economic and energy ties. Russian President Vladimir Putin has previously emphasized the potential for expanded cooperation between Russia and African countries and the development of mutually beneficial partnerships.
