Cape Town, South Africa – The energy minister John Jinapor has addressed delegates at the 2025 African Energy Week, underscoring Africa’s determination to redefine its role in the global energy landscape.
Other speakers also highlighted Africa’s historic contribution as a key supplier of energy to fuel global industrial progress, often while the continent itself remained mired in energy poverty.
“This gathering marks the end of that narrative,” a keynote statement declared. “We are not here with outstretched hands, hoping for a seat at a table we did not build. We are here as master builders, ready to claim our sovereign right to design, construct, and lead the next chapter of the world’s energy future.” Jinapor stated.
The conference, held in Cape Town, brings together policymakers, industry leaders, and investors to chart a pathway toward a more equitable and sustainable energy transition for Africa.
