The Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC) has celebrated academic excellence at the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa, during the institution’s 17th Congregation, recognising two outstanding graduates from the School of Petroleum Studies.
COMAC presented awards to Yeboah Ransford and Amoak Barbara, the 2025 Best Graduating Male and Female Students in Petroleum Engineering. Each awardee received a GHS 5,000 cash prize, a commemorative plaque, and a guaranteed National Service placement with a COMAC member company.
Presenting the awards on behalf of the Chamber, Samuel Wristberg, Head of Research at COMAC, said the initiative reflects the organisation’s commitment to strengthening the link between academia and the downstream petroleum industry. He noted that the awards form part of COMAC’s broader corporate social responsibility drive to support talent development and prepare young professionals for industry leadership.
Dr. Richard Amorin, Vice Dean of the School of Petroleum Studies, expressed appreciation to COMAC for its continuous support and reaffirmed the School’s commitment to expanding its partnership with the Chamber. He was joined by Dr. Eric Thompson Sagbavu, Head of the Petroleum Studies Department, and Mr. Seth Ayekple, Assistant Registrar of the School.
COMAC says it will continue to support capacity building, academic–industry collaboration, and career development initiatives aimed at equipping the next generation of downstream petroleum professionals.
