COMAC Trains Journalists on Petroleum Pricing, Downstream Operations

The Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC), has organised a training programme for journalists to deepen their understanding of Ghana’s petroleum downstream industry.

The one-day programme brought together energy reporters, newscasters and editors and focused on key issues including petroleum pricing, the regulatory framework and operations of the downstream petroleum sector.

The training also examined market dynamics and other issues relevant to accurate and effective reporting on developments in the petroleum industry.

COMAC said the initiative was intended to equip media practitioners with the technical knowledge required to report on petroleum-related matters accurately and responsibly.

The organisation noted that a better understanding of the factors influencing petroleum prices and downstream operations would enable journalists to provide the public with clearer and more informed coverage of developments in the sector.

The training forms part of efforts by COMAC to build capacity among stakeholders and promote informed discourse on Ghana’s petroleum industry.

COMAC expressed appreciation to the facilitators, including Abass Tasunti, Dr Riverson Oppong, Nsiah Benjamin, David Ampofo and Paul Eric Ofori, as well as staff of the organisation, for their contributions to the programme.

The Chamber said continued collaboration between industry stakeholders and the media was important to improving public understanding of Ghana’s petroleum downstream sector.
