Deputy Energy Minister Commissions 850kWp Solar System at Sintex Tank Factory

The Deputy Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Richard Gyan Mensah, has commissioned an 850kWp grid-tied solar power system at the Sintex Tank Factory located in the Tema Industrial Park. He represented the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, at the ceremony.

Addressing management and staff, the Deputy Minister commended Sintex Industries for what he described as a forward-looking investment in clean energy. He noted that by integrating solar power into its operations, the company is cutting operational costs, reducing carbon emissions, and aligning more closely with global sustainability standards.
According to the Ministry, the project contributes directly to government’s renewable energy targets, including efforts to increase the share of modern renewables in the national energy mix from the current 5 percent to 10 percent by 2030.
Hon. Jinapor, in remarks delivered on his behalf, urged industries across the country to follow Sintex’s lead by adopting solar and other renewable energy solutions. He emphasised that Ghana’s industrial, commercial, and residential sectors all have a role to play in building a more secure, affordable and sustainable energy future.

The commissioning forms part of broader initiatives under the Energy and Green Transition Ministry to promote clean energy adoption nationwide.
