Deputy Energy Minister Launches Committee to Oversee Cenit Power Plant Upgrade

Ghana’s push to enhance efficiency and cut costs in power generation has taken another step forward with the inauguration of a Joint Technical Committee to oversee the conversion of the Cenit Power Plant at Tema from a single cycle to a combined cycle configuration.

Deputy Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Richard Gyan-Mensah (MP), inaugurated the committee on behalf of the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor (MP). He noted that the upgrade will significantly improve the plant’s output and support Ghana’s broader energy transition goals.

The Joint Technical Committee has been tasked with conducting a thorough review of the plant and providing technical guidance throughout the conversion process.
