Ghana’s Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor (MP), has inaugurated a new Upstream Petroleum Legislative Review Committee, underscoring government’s commitment to sweeping reforms in the petroleum sector.
The committee has been tasked with a comprehensive review of the laws, policies, and operational practices guiding upstream petroleum activities, with the goal of strengthening transparency, efficiency, and long-term sustainability.
“These reforms are not just about tightening regulations,” Hon. Jinapor noted. “They are designed to attract new investment, unlock greater economic value, and secure the future of Ghana’s petroleum industry. The framework must balance two priorities maximizing benefits for the Ghanaian people while creating an environment that draws significant and sustainable investment.”
The Review Committee will be co-chaired by Hon. Dr. Kwabena Donkor and Nana Boakye Asafu-Agjaye, bringing together expertise and experience to guide the reform process.
