The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr John Jinapor, has engaged the leadership of agencies and institutions under the Ministry to review their 2026 performance, address outstanding challenges and establish key priorities for 2027.
The meeting assessed progress made in the energy sector, including efforts to strengthen Ghana’s energy security, expand electricity access and revitalise domestic oil refining.
Dr Jinapor said significant progress had been made despite existing challenges, citing plans to install 3,000 transformers, improvements in power generation and an increase in electricity access to 89.13 per cent.
He also highlighted renewed efforts to revive domestic oil refining as part of measures to strengthen the country’s energy security.

Looking ahead to 2027, the Minister stressed the need to translate commitments into measurable results, insisting that accountability, efficiency, transparency and value for money must guide the operations of all agencies under the Ministry.
He further urged agency heads and their respective leadership teams to demonstrate tangible results, warning that unnecessary delays and persistent non-performance would not be tolerated.
Dr Jinapor said the Ministry’s focus for 2027 would be to build a reliable, affordable, sustainable and resilient energy sector capable of supporting economic growth and delivering meaningful benefits to Ghanaians.
