The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has expressed satisfaction with the ruling by the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) in the long-running dispute between Power Distribution Services (PDS) and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
In its decision delivered on Wednesday, November 5, the tribunal ruled that the demand guarantees issued as part of the PDS–ECG concession were void and invalid from the outset. As a result, it held that the Government of Ghana acted within its rights in terminating the concession agreement.
In a statement following the ruling, the Ministry said it welcomes the outcome and assured the public that it is taking all necessary administrative steps to recover any amounts due to ECG and the state from the process.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to accountability, transparency, and sustainable energy reforms, in line with President John Dramani Mahama’s development agenda.
