GHANA ENERGY AWARDS: Organizers Announce New Partnerships and Youth Outreach

The Chief Executive Officer of the Energy Media Group, Ing. Henry Teinor, has described the Ghana Energy Awards Scheme as a trusted platform that has, over the past nine years, honoured innovation and leadership in Ghana’s energy sector. He was addressing the launch of the 9th edition of the Energy Awards in Accra. He reaffirmed the organizers’ commitment to celebrating excellence while introducing new initiatives to deepen industry engagement.

Our collaborations with the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, the World Energy Council Ghana, and independent validators such as Forvis Mazars and Casely Brooke Law Firm have ensured that credibility and transparency remain at the heart of this Awards,” he said. Teinor also announced a new endorsement from the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC), calling it a partnership that will “enrich engagements and broaden the scheme’s impact.”

Building Beyond the Awards
Teinor highlighted the Ghana Energy Awards’ broader impact through the Energy Personalities Outreach Programme (EPOP), which has so far reached more than 15,000 Senior High School students nationwide. This year, the initiative will be hosted at Chemu Senior High School in September, where the 2024 Energy Personalities of the Year will interact directly with students to inspire the next generation of energy leaders.
The CEO also noted that the media launch had been delayed to allow the awarding panel to engage new sector leaders, gather feedback from last year’s edition, and align with evolving priorities. The event, initially scheduled for August, was further postponed to honour the national mourning period following the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight soldiers and statesmen.

Technology and Transparency
As part of efforts to strengthen transparency, the organizers reaffirmed their commitment to site visitations to verify entries. A redesigned Awards website will also be launched to enhance accessibility, alongside provisions for virtual courtesy calls and site visits to enable wider participation across the country.
The 9th Ghana Energy Awards, themed “Repositioning the Energy Sector as a Pillar of National Development”, will be held in November to celebrate outstanding individuals and organizations shaping Ghana’s energy future
