Ghana to Host Africa Oil Week 2025: A Catalyst for Regional Energy Transformation

Ghana is set to host the prestigious Africa Oil Week (AOW): Investing in African Energy 2025 summit this September, an event expected to serve as a major turning point for the country’s energy ambitions and the wider West African region.

The high-level gathering will position Ghana at the heart of continental energy dialogue, investment attraction, and policy innovation, aligning seamlessly with the nation’s strategic economic agenda.

In a recent engagement with Kwame Ntow Amoah, the newly appointed CEO of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), discussions highlighted the critical actions required to ensure the summit’s success and the broader opportunities it presents for Ghana’s energy sector.

“We are honoured to welcome AOW\:Energy 2025 to Ghana,” Mr. Amoah stated. “This summit comes at a defining moment in our economic journey, and we believe it will open doors to new investments, policy breakthroughs, and strategic collaborations that will drive national and regional growth.”

Energy at the Core of Ghana’s Economic Revival

Ghana enters 2025 with a bold development vision centered around a 24-hour economy, championed by President John Dramani Mahama. At the heart of this vision is a dependable and modern energy system crucial for powering industries, attracting investment, and generating employment.

AOW:Energy 2025 is positioned to be a key enabler of this transformation, bringing together global stakeholders to mobilize capital, broker deals, and drive long-term infrastructure growth across the energy value chain.

Celebrating Key Energy Milestones

This year also marks two historic milestones: GNPC’s 40th anniversary and 15 years of production at the Jubilee Field, Ghana’s flagship offshore oil project. These anniversaries highlight the country’s growing stature in the oil and gas industry and offer a timely backdrop for exploring new frontiers.

According to Mr. Amoah, the summit will spotlight emerging prospects in the Keta Basin and Voltaian Basin, expected to shape Ghana’s next wave of energy development.

“Our sector has evolved significantly, and with new exploration zones on the horizon, AOW:Energy 2025 will be instrumental in helping us unlock Ghana’s full energy potential,” he said.

A Platform for Regional Collaboration

Beyond Ghana’s borders, AOW\:Energy 2025 is geared toward strengthening energy cooperation across West Africa. The event will bring together National Oil Companies (NOCs), private sector investors, and policymakers from across the continent to forge a united front in unlocking Africa’s vast energy potential.

An AOW\:Energy spokesperson emphasized,

“Our collaboration with GNPC extends beyond Ghana’s progress it’s about building a resilient, innovative, and inclusive energy ecosystem across Africa.”

Backed by African Institutions

Scheduled for September 15–18, 2025, in Accra, the summit has secured support from leading continental bodies including the African Union, African Petroleum Producers Organization (APPO), NUPRC, AFRIPERF, among others reinforcing its status as a critical moment for the energy industry.
