Ghana’s Power Utility Launches Nationwide Revenue Drive: “Operation ALL MUST PAY”
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced the rollout of a comprehensive national revenue mobilisation initiative titled “Operation ALL MUST PAY”, as part of efforts to recover outstanding customer debts and strengthen its financial viability.
Scheduled to run from Monday, July 14 to Friday, July 25, 2025, the campaign targets residential, commercial, industrial, and government consumers* who have defaulted on electricity payments.
Speaking on the initiative, Dr. Charles Nii Ayiku Ayiku, ECG’s General Manager for External Communications, explained that dedicated task teams would be dispatched across the country to enforce the campaign. The teams will also monitor illegal connections and unauthorised power reconnections.
“This nationwide operation covers all customer segments and will be strictly enforced. Our field teams will also be checking for illegal connections and taking action where necessary,” Dr. Ayiku said.
He emphasized that unpaid bills continue to pose a significant challenge to ECG’s operations and warned that non-compliant customers could face disconnection and be liable for additional reconnection charges.
“Ensuring that all customers pay their outstanding bills is vital to maintaining ECG’s financial health and enhancing our ability to deliver reliable electricity services nationwide,” he added.
As part of the campaign, ECG teams will also perform meter audits and customer engagement visits to resolve technical and service issues
Customers are encouraged to settle their bills promptly through official payment channels, such as the ECG Mobile App (available on the Google Play Store) or by contacting the ECG call centre. The utility also warned the public to be vigilant against fraudulent payment schemes and third-party agents claiming to represent ECG.
