ISA Assembly Opens in New Delhi as Africa Calls for Greater Clean Energy Investment

The 8th Session of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) Assembly has opened in New Delhi, India, bringing together global leaders to advance solar energy deployment and investment across member countries.

Representing the continent, the ISA Vice President for Africa delivered the Africa regional report and underscored the urgent need to bridge the investment gap hindering clean energy progress on the continent.

Despite possessing nearly 60 percent of the world’s most abundant solar resources, Africa currently attracts only 2 percent of global clean energy financing. The Vice President stressed that this disparity continues to impede electrification efforts, with an estimated 600 million people across the continent still without electricity — the majority residing in rural communities.

He called for stronger international partnerships, innovative financing solutions and accelerated deployment of solar technologies to unlock Africa’s renewable energy potential and deliver universal access to modern energy.

The ISA Assembly continues in New Delhi with member states deliberating on targeted interventions to advance solar adoption globally.
