NPA Assures Public of Stable Fuel Supply Amid Global Energy Market Concerns

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has assured the public that Ghana’s fuel market remains stable and adequately supplied despite growing concerns about developments in the global energy market.

The reassurance follows increasing public commentary about the potential impact of global oil price fluctuations and rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East on fuel supply and prices in the country.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, the Authority said it had conducted a comprehensive review of national petroleum stock levels in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition and other key industry stakeholders.

According to the NPA, the review confirmed that the country currently holds sufficient petroleum stocks to meet both current and projected demand.

“The NPA can confirm that adequate quantities of Petrol (PMS), Diesel (AGO), Aviation Turbine Kerosene (ATK), and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) are available in the country to meet national demand,” the statement said.

The Authority noted that the government continues to implement proactive measures to safeguard supply reliability and maintain stability in the petroleum market.

These measures include continuous monitoring of national fuel stock levels and close coordination with international oil trading firms, bulk import and distribution companies, and BOST Energies, as well as local refining facilities to ensure timely imports and steady distribution across the country.

The NPA added that strategic supply planning and price monitoring mechanisms are also being strengthened to minimise the risk of supply disruptions or price volatility that could arise from developments in the global petroleum market.

Officials say these steps form part of broader efforts to protect Ghana’s energy sector from external shocks while ensuring uninterrupted fuel supply for households, businesses, and the aviation industry.

The Authority has therefore urged the public to remain calm and avoid panic buying, stressing that the petroleum supply chain is operating normally and that adequate fuel stocks are available nationwide.

It further reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining reliable fuel supply, promoting transparent market operations, and protecting consumer interests.

The NPA added that it will continue to monitor developments in the international energy market and provide timely updates to the public on any significant changes that may affect the sector.
