The Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC) is set to hold a strategic engagement with key Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in the country on March 4, 2026.
This engagement forms part of the Corporation’s broader stakeholder engagement strategy and aims to strengthen relationships with CSOs, who are regarded as vital stakeholders in the development of the Petroleum Hub project.
The strategic session will provide a platform for PHDC leadership to offer a detailed explanation of the project’s rationale, scope, and potential impact, highlighting how the successful development of the Petroleum Hub will significantly transform Ghana’s energy and economic sectors by securing the country’s energy future while generating sustainable jobs and broader socio-economic benefits.
The meeting, which is expected to bring together many of Ghana’s leading CSOs in the energy sector, will also enable the Corporation to address key concerns, including the land requirements, the relevance and viability of a petroleum and petrochemical project in the era of global energy transition, and feedstock supply arrangements for the project.
In a video broadcast shared across the Corporation’s social media platforms, the Chief Executive Officer of the PHDC, Dr. Toni Aubynn, described the meeting as a landmark engagement that lies at the heart of the Corporation’s activities.
Dr. Aubynn emphasised that the engagement is driven by the goal of “aligning the thinking of the Corporation and the CSOs, and helping them appreciate the Petroleum Hub concept.”
He further noted that the PHDC views CSOs as essential partners in the development of the Petroleum Hub project and seeks their support as the Corporation enters this critical phase of implementation.
“If you proceed without them and there is no shared understanding of the vision, they might raise issues that could distort or undermine what we intend to achieve,” he said.
In its ongoing efforts to promote collaboration, inclusivity, and the successful realisation of the Petroleum Hub project, the PHDC, under Dr. Toni Aubynn’s leadership, has maintained an active stakeholder engagement drive, consulting relevant parties to secure their support and buy-in.
