RUSSIA AND ETHIOPIA SIGN ACTION PLAN ON NUCLEAR POWER PROJECT


Russia and Ethiopia on Thursday signed a document which calls for the planning and construction of a nuclear power plant in the east African country.

An action plan on development and construction of the facility was signed during a nuclear power forum by the Director General of Rosatom, Aleksei Likhachev, and Ashebir Balcha, CEO of the Ethiopian Electric Company.
The plan was signed at the World Atomic Week in Moscow, in the presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. Both sides also highlighted cooperation in energy and infrastructure.

The intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy in 2017, lays the groundwork for broader collaboration in nuclear science, technology, and education.
