Star Oil Investigates Deadly Tanker Crash at Asukawkaw Market

Star Oil Ltd has begun an internal probe into a tragic accident involving one of its Bulk Road Vehicles (BRVs) that occurred on Thursday, August 14, 2025, near Asukawkaw in the Oti Region.

The crash left four people dead and 14 others injured after the tanker reportedly veered out of control and ploughed into a busy market, according to eyewitnesses. The collision triggered scenes of chaos and panic among traders and shoppers.

In a statement, the company said it is cooperating fully with the Ghana Police Service to establish the cause of the incident and ensure accountability.

“The Company has initiated its internal investigative processes and will collaborate fully with the police to determine the cause of the accident,” the statement read.

Star Oil noted that it is also working with emergency services and local authorities to provide support for the injured and assistance to the bereaved families.

The management expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and extended best wishes for the swift recovery of those receiving treatment.
