Tullow Oil Appoints Ian Perks as New CEO, Strengthens Commitment to African Operations

Tullow Oil has announced the appointment of Ian Perks as its new Chief Executive Officer, underscoring the company’s renewed focus on its African portfolio.

Perks, who succeeds Rahul Dhir, assumes leadership at a pivotal time as Tullow seeks to consolidate its position as a leading independent energy producer in Africa. His appointment is expected to drive operational efficiency and strengthen the company’s long-term strategy in key markets, particularly Ghana.

Tullow has played a central role in Ghana’s oil and gas sector since the discovery of the Jubilee Field in 2007, which marked a major milestone in the country’s energy industry. The company also operates the TEN Fields and has been instrumental in advancing local content participation and capacity development within the sector.

In addition to its operations in Ghana, Tullow maintains interests in several other African countries, reinforcing its reputation as one of the continent’s significant independent upstream operators. The company says under Perks’ leadership it will continue to prioritize responsible production, deepen government and community partnerships, and contribute to Africa’s broader energy and economic growth agenda.
