Cape Town, South Africa – Ghana has called on African energy and petroleum ministers to take inspiration from its example by prioritising natural gas as a primary fuel source for industrialisation and domestic consumption.
Speaking during a fireside chat at African Energy Week, the Minister highlighted the need for innovative approaches and sustainable policy frameworks that not only attract investment but also protect national interests and build long-term confidence in the sector.
There are no shortcuts in this sector. Getting the policy and regulatory framework right from the outset is crucial, especially as gas continues to emerge as a vital resource, not just for Ghana but for Africa as a whole,” the Minister stated.
He further stressed the importance of embedding local content into energy policies to strengthen domestic capacity, promote knowledge transfer, and stimulate local economies.
Reaffirming Ghana’s commitment to regional collaboration, the Minister pledged to share the country’s experiences and insights with other African nations as they work collectively toward a sustainable energy for the future.
