The Petroleum Commission and Kosmos Energy Ghana have signed an agreement to facilitate the secondment of selected engineers from the Commission to Kosmos Energy’s facilities in Texas, United States.
The initiative forms part of the Commission’s ongoing efforts to develop a highly skilled and technically competent workforce capable of effectively regulating and supporting Ghana’s upstream petroleum industry.
Under the arrangement, the engineers will gain hands-on exposure to international industry practices, specialised technical operations and modern approaches to upstream petroleum activities. The experience is expected to enhance their technical expertise and, in turn, strengthen the institutional capacity of the Petroleum Commission.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Commission and the Managing Director of Kosmos Energy Ghana underscored the importance of strategic partnerships in building technical capacity and advancing Ghana’s petroleum industry.
The Petroleum Commission said the initiative goes beyond professional development, describing it as an investment in Ghana’s technical capacity and the long-term sustainability of the country’s upstream petroleum sector.
The Commission expressed its appreciation to Kosmos Energy Ghana for the partnership and support towards strengthening local technical expertise.
