The Independent Power Generators (IPGs) of Ghana have formally commended the Government of Ghana for settling a significant portion of the long-standing arrears owed to power generation companies in the country. In a statement, the IPGs acknowledged the efforts of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, describing the payments—made in 2025—as a major milestone in restoring financial stability and operational confidence within Ghana’s power sector.
According to the IPGs, the clearance of these legacy obligations marks a critical step toward addressing structural challenges that have constrained the sector for several years. They noted that the development reflects decisive leadership, prudent fiscal management, and a clear commitment by government to stabilising and strengthening the energy industry.
