The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC) in charge of Operations and Technical, Mr. Onasis Kobby Rosely, has assured that construction of the Petroleum Hub Project will commence this year.
Mr. Rosely gave the assurance when he led a PHDC delegation on a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief of the Western Nzema Traditional Area, Awulae Kwasi Armahchi III, at Benyin in the Jomoro Municipality of the Western Region. The visit was undertaken on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer of PHDC, Dr. Toni Aubynn.
The delegation congratulated Awulae Kwasi Armahchi III on his official installation and used the occasion to engage the Traditional Council on matters of mutual interest relating to the Petroleum Hub Project.
Addressing the Paramount Chief and his elders, Mr. Rosely expressed PHDC’s appreciation for the consistent support of the people of Jomoro and reaffirmed the Corporation’s commitment to sustained engagement with traditional authorities and the local community throughout the project’s lifecycle.
He noted that even ahead of construction, PHDC has already established a strong presence in the area through interventions aimed at improving the welfare of residents. These include ongoing efforts to provide reliable mobile telecommunications services and potable water, initiatives which, he said, are already at advanced stages following proposals by the late Paramount Chief.
Mr. Rosely further disclosed that preparations are underway to roll out youth training programmes in the coming weeks to equip young people in the area with relevant skills ahead of the start of construction.
On the status of the Petroleum Hub Project, the Deputy CEO stated that construction is scheduled to begin this year, following extensive engagements with the President of the Republic, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, the Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Hon. Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, as well as several international investors.
He called on Awulae Kwasi Armahchi III and his elders to continue their support and play their critical role in ensuring the smooth and successful implementation of the project.
In his response, Awulae Kwasi Armahchi III welcomed the PHDC delegation and commended the Corporation for the engagement, describing it as an opportunity to address concerns he previously held about the project. He assured PHDC of the unwavering support of the chiefs and people of Jomoro, while urging the Corporation to fast-track activities to accelerate progress.
The Paramount Chief also appealed for PHDC’s support in the development of additional community projects in the area. Mr. Rosely responded positively, assuring him that further discussions would be held to explore possible areas of collaboration.
