Chinese multi-industry conglomerate Jereh Group has expressed strong interest in participating in Ghana’s ambitious Petroleum Hub project following exploratory discussions with the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC).
The engagement, which took place on Monday, June 15, 2026, brought together a four-member delegation from Jereh Group, led by its Vice President, Jake An, and the management of PHDC headed by its Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Toni Aubynn.Welcoming the delegation, Dr. Aubynn outlined the vision behind the Petroleum Hub project, describing it as Ghana’s most significant effort to address Africa’s long-standing energy challenges while positioning the country as a major petroleum and petrochemical centre on the continent.He explained that PHDC’s mandate is to drive investment into the project and noted that the corporation is actively engaging credible international investors to support the development and operationalisation of the hub, which is to be located in the Jomoro Municipality of the Western Region.
During the meeting, PHDC’s Business Development Unit delivered a comprehensive presentation on the project’s scope, investment opportunities, and long-term economic benefits.Speaking on behalf of Jereh Group, Jake An highlighted the company’s global footprint, with operations spanning the United States, Iran, China, and several other countries. He noted that Jereh Group is a leading player in the oil and gas industry, technology solutions, and industrial facility construction, with a market capitalisation of approximately $24 billion.Mr. An expressed confidence in the Petroleum Hub project’s potential and affirmed the company’s interest in maintaining dialogue with PHDC to explore areas of collaboration.In response, Dr. Aubynn observed that Jereh Group’s expertise aligns closely with the objectives of the Petroleum Hub project. He identified petrochemical plants, ports, and jetty infrastructure as key areas where the company could make strategic investments.
According to Dr. Aubynn, the Petroleum Hub presents a unique opportunity for Jereh Group to establish a strong presence in Ghana while contributing significantly to the country’s energy and industrial transformation agenda.The meeting concluded with both parties committing to continue discussions aimed at identifying mutually beneficial investment and partnership opportunities under the Petroleum Hub project.
