The deputy minister of energy and green transition Richard Gyan Mensah had the honour of representing the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon. Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, at the official launch of the Rural Electrification and Intensification Programme (REIP) under President Mahama’s BIG PUSH agenda at the Jakpa Palace in Damango.

The REIP will connect 159 unelectrified communities in the Savannah Region to the national grid by the end of 2026. At the launch, eight (8) communities within the West Gonja Municipality were officially connected to the national grid.

Richard Gyan Mensah was grateful to the Yagbonwura, Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale, for the warm reception, the beautiful smock presented to me, and his commendation of this transformative initiative. I also thankful to the Savannah Regional minister, the MMDCEs of the region, the Hon. MP for Damango, the NDC party executives of the region and constituency, the management and staff of NEDCO and all stakeholders for their active participation and contribution to the success of the launch.

He assured 6thGhanaians that H.E. President John Dramani Mahama’s government remains committed to delivering reliable and affordable electricity to every community.

Savannah Region to Connect 159 Communities to National Grid Under REIP
The government has officially launched the Rural Electrification and Intensification Programme (REIP) under President John Dramani Mahama’s BIG PUSH agenda, with a commitment to connect 159 unelectrified communities in the Savannah Region to the national electricity grid by the end of 2026.

The launch ceremony, held at the Jakpa Palace in Damango, was attended by the Deputy Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Richard Gyan-Mensah, who represented the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor.

As part of the programme’s rollout, eight communities in the West Gonja Municipality were officially connected to the national grid during the ceremony, marking the first phase of the electrification initiative in the region.
