ACEP Launches Project to Strengthen Ghana’s Energy Security and Institutional Capacity

The Africa Centre for Energy Policy (ACEP) has officially launched a new initiative aimed at strengthening Ghana’s energy security and economic resilience through improved policy implementation and institutional coordination.
The project, titled “Advancing Policy Reform and Institutional Capacity for Energy Security and Economic Resilience in the Emerging Transition Economy,” was inaugurated at an inception meeting that brought together senior government officials, representatives of financial institutions, the private sector, civil society organisations, academia, and development partners.
The meeting marked the formal commencement of the project and served as a platform for stakeholders to align priorities and foster collaboration on reforms needed to support Ghana’s evolving energy transition agenda.
According to ACEP, the initiative seeks to address institutional bottlenecks while strengthening the implementation of existing policy and regulatory frameworks that underpin the country’s energy security and broader economic transformation.
Participants exchanged views on the policy, regulatory, financing, and institutional reforms required to ensure a secure, resilient, and inclusive energy future as Ghana navigates the global energy transition.
ACEP said it will continue to work with key stakeholders throughout the project to generate evidence, build institutional capacity, and support the effective implementation of reforms that promote sustainable development and long-term economic resilience.
