EPRA Hosts Ghana’s National Petroleum Authority for Petroleum Regulation Benchmarking

NAIROBI, Kenya — The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) hosted a delegation from Ghana’s National Petroleum Authority (NPA) at its Nairobi Head Office for a benchmarking engagement focused on petroleum regulation.

EPRA Director General, Eng. Edward M. Kinyua, OGW, led the engagement, which provided a platform for the two institutions to exchange experiences, share regulatory best practices and explore approaches to strengthening the implementation of their respective mandates.

The discussions covered key areas of regulatory oversight, including EPRA’s mandate and regulatory framework, research and data management, accreditation and quality assurance, sector intelligence, regulatory compliance and institutional performance.

The engagement underscored the importance of institutional collaboration, knowledge exchange and continuous learning in strengthening regulatory oversight across the energy and petroleum sector.

Through such benchmarking engagements, regulatory institutions can draw on shared experiences, enhance institutional capacity and strengthen governance frameworks to support effective regulation and better outcomes for stakeholders and consumers.
