GOIL CEO Advocates Stronger Local Content Framework at GhIPCon 2026

The Group Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of GOIL PLC, Mr. Edward Abambire Bawa, has underscored the importance of knowledge and technology transfer in strengthening local capacity and driving sustainable growth in Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector.

Speaking during a panel discussion on “Local Content and Industrial Participation in Downstream Growth” at the 7th Ghana International Petroleum Conference (GhIPCon 2026), Mr. Bawa emphasized that equipping indigenous businesses with the necessary skills and technologies is key to enhancing competitiveness and expanding local participation across the industry.
He noted that although local participation in the downstream petroleum sector continues to increase, challenges relating to the cost and tenure of capital remain significant barriers to growth.

According to him, improving access to affordable, long-term financing is essential to enabling indigenous businesses to invest, scale sustainably, and compete effectively.

Mr. Bawa reaffirmed GOIL’s commitment to supporting policies, strategic partnerships, and investments that promote local content development, foster innovation, and contribute to a more resilient and competitive downstream petroleum industry.
