PHDC and UKGCC Strengthen Strategic Collaboration to Advance Ghana’s Petroleum Hub Vision

The Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC) and the UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce (UKGCC) have reaffirmed their commitment to a strategic partnership aimed at driving the successful realization of Ghana’s Petroleum Hub—an ambitious project set to transform the country into a regional energy and petrochemical powerhouse.

The renewed pledge was made during a courtesy visit by UKGCC leadership to PHDC’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Toni Aubynn, on Tuesday, July 8, 2025.

During the meeting, Dr. Aubynn expressed PHDC’s strong interest in deepening collaboration with UK-based investors and technical partners. He underscored the importance of leveraging the historic UK-Ghana relationship to attract critical capital and expertise required for the development of the multi-phase project.

“We see this hub not only as a national priority but as a pan-African energy infrastructure with global reach,” Dr. Aubynn noted. “Partnerships like this are essential to mobilize the financial and human capital needed to bring our vision to life.”

He further highlighted key investment opportunities within the hub project and outlined PHDC’s commitment to building the necessary human capital to support its construction and long-term growth.

Leading the UKGCC delegation, Executive Director Adjoba Kyiamah congratulated Dr. Aubynn on his appointment and expressed confidence in his leadership to deliver on the hub’s transformative agenda. She also emphasized the Chamber’s ongoing support for the initiative through strategic programs such as investor roadshows, business roundtables, and targeted capacity-building initiatives.

“While we recognize the complexity of this endeavor, we are confident that through sustained collaboration and focused engagement, Ghana’s Petroleum Hub can become a beacon of energy excellence on the continent,” Kyiamah said.

The Petroleum Hub is envisioned as a fully integrated industrial zone for downstream petroleum and petrochemical activities, strategically located to serve both African and global markets.

Dr. Aubynn closed the meeting by expressing optimism about the partnership and reiterated PHDC’s readiness to work closely with UKGCC and international stakeholders to ensure the hub’s successful rollout.
