The minister for Energy and Green Transition dr John Jinapor has received a delegation from the British High Commission, Accra, led by the British High Commissioner to Ghana, H.E. Christian Rogg.

Both parties discussed the reforms undertaken since the NDC administration assumed office, including reforms in the electricity distribution sector, ongoing grid expansion works, and the progress we have made in arresting the decline in oil production. We also explored our priority projects and opportunities for financing and technical cooperation.

Dr Jinapor highlighted our aggressive renewable energy expansion drive, including the establishment of the Renewable Energy and Green Transition Fund, solar deployment at critical installations, solar-powered irrigation pumps, solar streetlights, solar for homes, and our recent policies to promote EV charging infrastructure.

H.E. Christian Rogg reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s energy sector and expressed the readiness of the British Government and UK companies to partner with us in delivering these initiatives

Energy Minister, British High Commissioner Discuss Energy Reforms, Renewable Energy Cooperation
The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, has held talks with a delegation from the British High Commission in Accra, led by the British High Commissioner to Ghana, H.E. Christian Rogg, to strengthen cooperation in Ghana’s energy sector.

The meeting focused on key reforms undertaken by the government since the National Democratic Congress (NDC) assumed office, including improvements in the electricity distribution sector, ongoing electricity grid expansion projects, and measures aimed at reversing the decline in the country’s oil production. The discussions also explored priority energy projects and opportunities for financing and technical collaboration.

Dr. Jinapor highlighted the government’s ambitious renewable energy agenda, which includes the establishment of the Renewable Energy and Green Transition Fund to accelerate the country’s transition to clean energy. He also outlined initiatives such as the deployment of solar power at critical public installations, the rollout of solar-powered irrigation pumps, installation of solar streetlights, expansion of residential solar systems, and policies to promote electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure.

The British High Commissioner reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s energy transformation agenda. H.E. Christian Rogg expressed the readiness of the UK Government and British companies to partner with Ghana in implementing the identified projects through technical expertise, investment and other forms of collaboration.

The engagement underscores the growing partnership between Ghana and the United Kingdom in advancing sustainable energy development, enhancing energy security, and driving the country’s green transition objectives.
