Solomon Ewanehi Unveils Transformative Blueprint for Africa’s Energy Future at 9th Africa Energy Summit

In a landmark moment for Africa’s energy sector, Solewant Group’s Group Managing Director, Mr. Solomon Ewanehi, officially launched his groundbreaking book, Unlocking Africa’s Energy Future – Strategies for Sustainable Growth and Development, during the 9th Africa Energy Summit in Port Harcourt. The high-profile event drew policymakers, academics, industry leaders, and international delegates, signalling the book’s significance in shaping the continent’s evolving energy narrative.

Spanning 320 pages across 14 detailed chapters, the publication serves as a strategic blueprint for achieving energy security and driving economic transformation across Africa. Drawing from decades of industry experience, Ewanehi offers a candid, deeply analytical, and forward-looking assessment of Africa’s vast energy potential, the structural challenges that hinder development, and the bold steps required to propel the continent into global competitiveness.

A Three-Part Blueprint for an Energy-Rich Future

Reviewing the book at the launch, Professor Seth Accra Jaja, former Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Utuoke, praised its intellectual depth and practical relevance. He explained that the book is organised into three major thematic sections that collectively outline a comprehensive framework for Africa’s energy transition.

Chapters 1–4 explore the philosophy of enterprise, purpose, and leadership. Ewanehi draws parallels between business success and energy transformation, describing both as long-term journeys requiring discipline, vision, and determination.

Chapters 5–8 examine the structural drivers of Africa’s energy evolution. Ewanehi stresses the need for consolidated entrepreneurial leadership, stronger global alliances, and assertive participation in international energy diplomacy. He highlights Africa’s abundant natural resources—oil, gas, solar, wind, and hydro—and argues that the continent must harness these through strategic investments and cross-border industrial collaboration.

Chapters 9–12 provide a sweeping review of Africa’s historical and contemporary energy landscape. Ewanehi outlines policy failures, financing gaps, and governance barriers but maintains an optimistic tone by presenting clear, actionable strategies for sustainable energy-led growth.

The final chapters, 13 and 14, offer global perspectives from international commentators, thought leaders, and goodwill messages. A powerful closing reflection—featuring Nelson Mandela’s iconic quote on the impact of service—reinforces the book’s message that energy development is ultimately about uplifting lives.

Professor Jaja described the book as “a well-focused insight into the African energy story… an important contribution not only to Africa but to global energy strategy.”

Ewanehi’s Call to Action: Documenting Knowledge for Future Generations

Speaking at the launch, Ewanehi reflected on the personal and intellectual journey behind the book.

Working on Unlocking Africa’s Energy Future was exciting and immensely gratifying,” he said. He urged Africa’s business leaders to document their experiences to guide future generations, noting that storytelling and knowledge-sharing are critical to nation-building.

He highlighted the paradox facing Africa: despite its enormous natural resource wealth—some of the world’s highest solar irradiation, vast gas reserves, rich wind corridors, and significant hydro potential—millions still lack access to reliable power.

This book seeks to explore the opportunities and challenges in unlocking Africa’s energy future,” Ewanehi noted, “with a focus on strategies for sustainable growth and development.

Key Strategies for a New African Energy Ecosystem

Ewanehi outlines several core strategies he believes are essential for driving Africa’s energy transformation:

Renewable energy and natural gas as the foundation of sustainable development

Regional integration and innovative financing to unlock large-scale investment

Technology, efficiency, and digital innovation to enhance energy security

Stronger cross-border cooperation and long-term strategic planning

Using Solewant Group as a practical example, Ewanehi demonstrates how African-owned companies can champion industrialisation by investing in innovation, skills development, and compliance with global best practices.

“I sincerely hope you learn from my trajectory,” he writes. “And please don’t stop knocking on the door until it opens.”

A Defining Moment for Africa’s Energy Sector

The launch of Unlocking Africa’s Energy Future at the 9th Africa Energy Summit came at a pivotal time, as stakeholders across the continent look for sustainable solutions to persistent energy challenges. The book arrives as both a scholarly resource and a practical guide for policymakers, investors, researchers, and industry professionals.

As Africa navigates the intersecting pressures of energy transition, industrial growth, and shifting geopolitics, Ewanehi’s book offers clarity, strategy, and optimism. It confronts tough realities without pessimism and highlights opportunities without exaggeration.

In every respect, Ewanehi has delivered more than a book—he has delivered a bold, strategic roadmap for Africa’s energy renaissance
