The Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Dr John Abdulai Jinapor, has engaged the management of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) to assess progress in efforts to rebuild and reposition the national refinery.
The engagement provided an opportunity for TOR management to update the Minister on developments at the refinery, key challenges and ongoing initiatives aimed at restoring and strengthening its operations.
The meeting also formed part of broader efforts to align the refinery’s revitalisation with government’s plans to strengthen Ghana’s downstream petroleum infrastructure and enhance energy security.
Earlier, Dr Jinapor inaugurated a Steering Committee to oversee the development of Ghana’s Petroleum Downstream Infrastructure Master Plan (DIMP).
The Master Plan is expected to provide a strategic framework for addressing infrastructure gaps, improving the efficiency and utilisation of existing petroleum assets, strengthening downstream logistics and creating a more predictable environment for investment.
Dr Jinapor said the objective was to develop a practical and implementable roadmap that responds to Ghana’s future energy needs while supporting economic growth and energy security.
He expressed confidence that the Steering Committee would produce a comprehensive plan to guide policy, inform investment decisions and drive transformation in the downstream petroleum sector.
The TOR management expressed appreciation to Dr Jinapor for his leadership, support and commitment to the revitalisation of the refinery and the broader goal of strengthening Ghana’s energy security.
