LIBERIA LAUNCHES LIMEC 2026 TO ATTRACT MINING AND ENERGY INVESTMENTPRESENTER:

Liberia’s Minister of Mines and Energy, R. Matenokay Tingban, says the government is committed to attracting responsible investment in the country’s mining and energy sectors to boost economic growth, create jobs, and promote sustainable development.

Speaking on Thursday, October 15, during the official launch of the Liberia International Mining and Energy Conference and Expo, known as LIMEC 2026, in Monrovia, Minister Tingban said the country must move beyond the extraction of natural resources to ensure greater economic benefits for Liberians.

Minister Tingban says Liberia’s mineral wealth and energy potential present significant opportunities for economic transformation, but emphasizes the need for stronger institutions, transparent resource management, and consistent policies to attract investors.

He says LIMEC 2026 will bring together government officials, international investors, mining companies, energy developers, development partners, and technical experts to discuss investment opportunities and challenges facing the two sectors.

The minister says the conference will also showcase Liberia’s mineral resources, energy development priorities, and ongoing reforms while encouraging partnerships that can strengthen the national economy.

He adds that the government is particularly interested in investments that create decent jobs, support local businesses, transfer technology, and develop the skills of Liberian professionals.

SOT – MINISTER R. MATENOKAY TINGBAN:
“Our message to the international investment community is clear: Liberia is open for responsible business, committed to reform, and ready to build mutually beneficial partnerships.”

However, the minister stresses that investments in the mining and energy sectors must comply with Liberian laws and regulations, protect the environment, and deliver meaningful benefits to communities affected by industrial activities.

He says the government wants natural resource investments to contribute not only to national revenue but also to improved livelihoods and sustainable development.

Minister Tingban further emphasizes that the success of LIMEC 2026 will depend on its ability to attract investments, establish strategic partnerships, create employment opportunities, and deliver lasting benefits to the Liberian people.

The conference is expected to provide a platform for discussions on responsible mining, energy development, infrastructure, and opportunities for private-sector participation.

The official launch comes as Liberia seeks to strengthen its mining and energy industries and position its natural resources as drivers of long-term economic growth.
