Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee Inspects NPA Monitoring Systems Following Auditor-General’s Report

The Public Accounts Committee of Parliament has undertaken a working visit to the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), including its Monitoring Command Centre, to assess measures being implemented to address findings in the Auditor-General’s Special Audit Report on the Authority.
The visit formed part of the Committee’s oversight responsibilities, with discussions focusing on petroleum product tracking and distribution, the operations of the Unified Petroleum Price Fund (UPPF), transportation cost verification and product marking.
The Committee also examined the effectiveness of the NPA’s regulatory monitoring systems and engaged management on measures being taken to address issues identified in the audit report.

Members inspected systems used to monitor the movement of petroleum products and assessed the Authority’s efforts to strengthen operational controls and improve regulatory compliance.
The Committee stressed the importance of following up on audit findings through direct engagement with institutions and on-site assessments to ensure that recommendations are implemented.
It said effective parliamentary oversight was essential to strengthening accountability, safeguarding public resources and improving efficiency in Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector.
