GHANA TO HOST FIRST STAKEHOLDER MEETING ON AFRICA SUSTAINABILITY REPORT AND SDG AWARDS

Ghana will on August 15, 2025, host the first stakeholder meeting for the Sixth Africa Sustainability Report and the Think Energy SDGs Awards at the Accra City Hotel.

The event, organised by the Office of the Minister of State for Climate Change and Sustainability in partnership with the Association of African Sustainability Practitioners (AASP), will bring together policymakers, industry leaders, researchers, and civil society actors to review Africa’s progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as the world approaches the 10-year mark of Agenda 2030.

Key discussions will centre on identifying challenges and opportunities in implementing sustainable development practices in Ghana and across the continent, as well as recognising outstanding contributions through the Think Energy SDGs Awards.

The meeting will also see the official launch of the Association of African Sustainability Practitioners, a new platform aimed at strengthening collaboration among sustainability professionals. In addition, organisers will unveil a Capacity Building Programme designed to equip African professionals and organisations with the knowledge and skills to drive the continent’s transition to a green economy.

The Minister of State for Climate Change and Sustainability is expected to highlight the critical role of climate action in economic growth, while sustainability experts will present the findings of the latest Africa Sustainability Report.

The stakeholder meeting is anticipated to serve as a springboard for accelerated action towards achieving the SDGs and fostering long-term environmental stewardship in Africa.
