GOIL PLC Alerts Public to Fake Video Impersonating CEO


Accra, Ghana — [Date] — GOIL PLC has issued a strong warning to the public over a fraudulent video circulating on social media that falsely portrays its Group CEO and Managing Director, Mr. Edward Abambire Bawa, announcing a so-called “government-backed gold project” and “customer reward scheme.”


In a statement released by the company, GOIL described the video as maliciously fabricated and entirely false, emphasizing that the content was generated using artificial intelligence (AI) for deceitful purposes.
GOIL PLC is not undertaking, and has never undertaken, any gold-related venture, government-backed project, or customer reward scheme as alleged in the said video,” the company stated. “The content is fake, deceitful, and clearly generated for fraudulent purposes.


GOIL strongly condemned the act of digital impersonation, saying it was a deliberate attempt to exploit public trust in the brand. The company urged the public to exercise caution and to disregard the video entirely.


The company further disclosed that it is working with security and cybercrime authorities to trace and prosecute those behind the impersonation, describing it as a serious cyber-offense intended to mislead and defraud the public.
