MONROVIA, LIBERIA November 3, 2026
Liberia is participating in the African Diamond Producing Association’s 13th Extraordinary Meeting and 20th anniversary celebration in Luanda, Angola.
The gathering brings together member countries to strengthen cooperation and promote a sustainable and ethical African diamond industry.
Liberia is represented by Assistant Minister for Administration at the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Cooper Paasewe, and Director of the Office of Precious Minerals, Rebecca Kumba Fallah.
Assistant Minister Paasewe is representing the Ministry’s senior management team, headed by Mines and Energy Minister R. Matenokay Tingban, while Director Fallah serves as Liberia’s focal point for ADPA.
The celebration began on Monday, November 2, with a special city tour of Luanda, highlighting Angola’s journey from independence to its emergence as a major player in the global diamond industry.
The tour, held under the theme “Luanda in Three Stops: From Independence to Diamonds,” included visits to the Dr. António Agostinho Neto Memorial, Ilha de Luanda, and the CIF Building, which houses ADPA’s headquarters.
The CIF Building is also the location where the Luanda Declaration was signed on November 4, 2006, bringing African diamond-producing countries together under a common vision.
Director Fallah participated in the experts and focal points meeting on Tuesday, November 3, while Assistant Minister Paasewe is expected to participate in the Council of Ministers Forum on Wednesday, November 4.
ADPA currently represents 22 member states and seeks to promote cooperation, ethical practices, and sustainable development within Africa’s diamond sector.
The anniversary celebration is being supported by SODIAM, ENDIAMA, the Angolan Government through its Ministry of Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas, and the Provincial Government of Luanda.
The event underscores the importance of African countries working together to strengthen their diamond industries and ensure that natural resources contribute meaningfully to economic development.
