The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has held a strategic meeting with key stakeholders and executives of the 24-Hour Economy Secretariat as preparations advance for the rollout of a Night Economy Pilot Project in the Osu enclave this December. The meeting, held on November 19, forms part of ongoing efforts to operationalise the government’s 24-Hour Economy Initiative within the petroleum downstream sector. Officials say the pilot will serve as a test case to assess how round-the-clock economic activity can be effectively implemented before a national scale-up.
Chairing the meeting, NPA Chief Executive, Mr. Godwin Kudzo Tameklo, underscored the central role of security in the upcoming pilot. He stressed the need for strong collaboration with the Ghana Police Service to ensure adequate protection and to address potential operational and safety challenges associated with supporting a 24-hour economic system.
The engagement brought together representatives of Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC), officials from the 24-Hour Economy Secretariat, and staff of the NPA.
The Night Economy Pilot Project in Osu is expected to provide practical insights to inform the full implementation of the 24-Hour Economy Initiative across Ghana’s petroleum downstream industry.
