In a bid to strengthen Ghana’s domestic gas sector, Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, paid a working visit to the Ghana National Gas Company (GNGC) on July 16, 2025, as part of his ministry’s ongoing stakeholder engagement drive.
The visit forms part of a broader government initiative aimed at aligning key energy institutions with national strategic goals, especially in enhancing domestic gas production and infrastructure.
Speaking during an engagement with GNGC management and staff, Minister Jinapor emphasized the growing significance of natural gas in Ghana’s energy matrix, describing it as central to energy security, economic growth, and industrial transformation.
“Gas is not just a transitional fuel—it’s a critical pillar of our energy future. We must invest in infrastructure and accelerate the expansion of pipelines to ensure reliable delivery,” he said.
The Minister urged the company to ramp up operational efficiency and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to building a robust and resilient gas sector to power industry, support job creation, and ensure sustainable energy development.
Managing Director of GNGC, Ms. Judith Adjobah Blay, welcomed the Minister’s visit, describing it as a timely boost to the company’s strategic direction. She expressed appreciation for the Minister’s leadership and pledged GNGC’s continued alignment with national energy goals.
“The Minister’s visit is both reassuring and energizing. We remain committed to excellence and to playing our part in Ghana’s energy transformation,” she said.
Minister Jinapor also announced ongoing plans for the establishment of a new gas processing plant, which he described as a significant step toward achieving energy sustainability and industrial growth in Ghana.
