The Deputy Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Richard Gyan Mensah, on Wednesday joined the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) to officially launch the 2025 Consumer Week Celebration under the theme “LPG: A Sustainable Energy for a Better Tomorrow.”
Speaking at the event, Mr. Gyan Mensah underscored the importance of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) as one of the cleanest and most efficient cooking fuels essential to achieving Ghana’s energy transition goals.
“LPG remains a key component in our efforts to ensure safe, affordable, and sustainable energy for all Ghanaians,” he stated.
The Deputy Minister announced that, under the National LPG Promotion Programme, government plans to distribute 457,000 LPG cookstoves over the next two years, with support from the World Bank, as part of efforts to increase national LPG access to 50 percent by 2030.
He also highlighted the ongoing implementation of the Cylinder Recirculation Model (CRM), designed to enhance safety and efficiency in LPG distribution while making gas cylinders more accessible to households and communities nationwide.
Mr. Gyan Mensah urged the public to embrace LPG and other clean energy solutions to help build a safer and greener future for Ghana.
