GOIL PLC has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Ghana’s national security architecture following a high-level engagement between the company’s leadership, led by the Group CEO and MD, Mr Edward Abambire Bawa, and the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General William Agyapong.
The visit held at the General Headquarters of the Ghana Armed Forces, formed part of efforts to strengthen the long-standing partnership between the two institutions.
The CDS warmly welcomed the GOIL delegation and expressed appreciation for the visit.
Mr Bawa explained that the visit was to congratulate the CDS and the leadership of the Ghana Armed Forces for their critical role in safeguarding the sovereignty and security of Ghana. He reaffirmed GOIL’s position as the primary fuel supplier to the GAF, including the supply of aviation fuel for the air fleet and bunkering services for naval vessels. He emphasized the need to deepen the strategic partnership between the two institutions.
Responding, Lieutenant General William Agyapong thanked the GOIL team for the visit and commended the company for its unwavering support to the Armed Forces over the years. He particularly acknowledged GOIL’s commitment to ensuring a consistent fuel supply to the GAF, even during periods of high indebtedness.
He noted that such moments reveal true partnerships and described GOIL as a national energy company that understands the role of the Armed Forces within the state and places national interest above purely commercial considerations.
The CDS also commended the Group CEO & MD for his leadership and expressed confidence in his vision to position GOIL for greater national impact.
The GOIL delegation included the Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Marcus Deo Dake; Head of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Robert Kyere; Head of Fuels Marketing, Mr. Emmanuel Kwame Agyiri; Head of Information Technology, Mr. Roger Oteng Baah; Group Chief Finance Officer, Mr. Robert Lartey; Head of Operations, Ing. Denis Nii-Komiete Amui, and other senior officials.
The GAF delegation comprised the Chief of Staff at General Headquarters, Air Vice Marshal Joshua Mensah-Larkai; Director-General, Human Resource, Commodore Francis Nyarko; Director-General, Logistics, Brigadier-General Thomas Mensah; Director, Supply and Transport, Colonel Harry Keelson; and Commanding Officer, Base Supply Depot, Lieutenant Colonel Isaac Awunigateh.
The visit further strengthened the bond between GOIL and the Ghana Armed Forces, reflecting a partnership rooted in national service, institutional trust, and a shared commitment to Ghana’s security and progress.
