COMAC Safety Week Day 2 Focuses on Quality Control and Proactive Risk Management

The second day of the 2026 Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC) Safety Week featured a series of expert-led presentations aimed at تعزيز safety, quality assurance, and operational excellence across Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector.


Leading the sessions, Dzidzor Klake, Head of the Petroleum Product Marking Scheme (PPMS) at the National Petroleum Authority, highlighted the importance of maintaining product quality throughout the supply chain—from importation to final consumption. She emphasised the critical role stakeholders play in safeguarding the integrity of petroleum products.


Richard Apaloo, Senior Manager for Retail Outlets and Premix Sites at the Authority, delivered a practical presentation on the rationale behind safety requirements at fuel stations and refilling plants. He underscored the need for operators to understand the real-world risks that underpin regulatory measures.
Patrick Kweku Sam, Head of Risk Assurance and Reporting at the Authority, provided insights into hazard identification and risk assessment, outlining proactive strategies to prevent workplace incidents.
The session concluded with an interactive presentation by John Kingsley Armah of DFI, who focused on occupational health and safety, equipping participants with essential knowledge to promote safer working environments.


Overall, Day 2 reinforced the importance of continuous learning, awareness, and proactive risk management in strengthening safety culture across the petroleum industry.
