Energy Committee commends NPA’s openness

Chairman of Parliament’s Energy Committee, Hon. Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah, has praised the NPA for its transparency and constructive engagement during a monitoring visit in Accra.He emphasised that such collaboration strengthens oversight and ensures institutions remain responsive to national needs. NPA CEO, Godwin Kudzo Tameklo Esq., highlighted the critical role of the downstream petroleum sector in everyday life and reaffirmed the Authority’s mandate to regulate the industry effectively.

He stressed the importance of compliance, consumer protection, and fuel quality assurance through measures such as the Fuel Marking Scheme, alongside consistent inspections. He also noted that the Uniform Petroleum Pricing Policy helps ensure fair and equal access to fuel across the country.

The visit forms part of Parliament’s constitutional oversight of the sector, with discussions also pointing to ongoing efforts to update the legal framework to keep pace with industry developments.
