Dr. Patrick K. Ofori, Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors (CBOD), has endorsed the government’s 24-hour economy initiative, describing it as a strategic move to boost productivity, energy security, and economic growth.
Speaking at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the petroleum downstream industry and the 24-Hour Economy Authority, Dr. Ofori said the initiative marks a significant milestone in rethinking how Ghana structures efficiency and value creation across key sectors.
He noted that extending operational hours within the downstream petroleum industry goes beyond a routine adjustment, stressing that it represents a deliberate effort to strengthen fuel supply reliability and support sustained economic activity nationwide.
“The transition towards a 24-hour economy is a strategic shift that requires aligning our systems, infrastructure, logistics, and regulatory frameworks to ensure continuous, safe, and efficient operations,” he stated.
Dr. Ofori highlighted the critical role of the downstream petroleum sector in driving economic activity, adding that achieving the full benefits of the initiative will depend on effective collaboration among key stakeholders, including regulators, industry players, security agencies, and transport operators.
He assured that CBOD remains committed to working closely with the National Petroleum Authority and other partners to ensure the successful rollout of the programme.
According to him, with the right structures, incentives, and partnerships in place, the 24-hour economy initiative has the potential to unlock new growth opportunities, enhance operational efficiency, and contribute significantly to Ghana’s development.
Dr. Ofori also commended the government for spearheading the initiative and pledged CBOD’s continued support toward its successful implementation.
