Dr John Jinapor Meets ECG, NEDCo Stakeholders to Tackle Isolated Power Outages

The Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Dr John Jinapor, has held a high-level meeting with the Electricity Company of Ghana, Northern Electricity Distribution Company, and other key stakeholders in the power sector to assess the current state of Ghana’s electricity supply system and review plans aimed at addressing remaining isolated outages in some parts of the country.

The discussions focused on operational challenges within the electricity distribution chain, particularly transformer overloads and aging infrastructure that continue to affect service delivery. According to the minister, these are investments that should have been undertaken years ago, especially as electricity demand has increased significantly due to rapid urbanisation and expanding economic activity.

Dr Jinapor said the John Dramani Mahama-led administration is making substantial investments to modernise and expand power infrastructure, strengthen operational capacity, and improve overall system reliability nationwide.

He further directed ECG and NEDCo to intensify their efforts and ensure a swift, coordinated, and effective response to all reported outages. He stressed that Ghanaians deserve timely service delivery and clear communication from utility providers.

The minister assured the public that government is working with urgency to resolve the remaining pockets of outages and improve electricity supply across the country.
